Detailed description

Quail Ridge Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Winfield, Kansas.

Quail Ridge first opened for play in 1992. The course was designed by Jerry Slack. Owned by the city of Winfield, Kansas, Quail Ridge has won awards since it was first opened and it is regularly honored by Golf Digest magazine as a 4 1/2-star course on its places to play list.

Quail Run has three sets of tees to accomodate all skill levels. The distances, ratings and slopes at Quail Ridge are: 6,826 yards (73.7/129); 6,200 to 6,400 (71.2/124)and 5,442 (71.5/119).

The terrain at Quail Ridge is gentle with mild slopes and mounds on some fairways, but there are a minimum of ups and downs. From some of the holes, you can see the Walnut River and the nearby ridge of hills that gives the course its name.

No. 1 is a par 4 that measures 398 yards from the back and 315 from the forward tees.

No. 2 is 395 yards from the back and 329 from the front, is again a slight dogleg left par-4.

No. 3 is one of the toughest on the course, partly because this par-4 measures 429 yards from the back and 325 from the front. It also is a dogleg left.

No. 4 is the first par 5 and measures 523 yards from the back and 416 from the front

No. 6 is another of those tough par-4s playing 415 yards from the back and 329 from the front.

No. 8 is one of their water holes. The 8th plays to 397 yards from the back and 318 from the front.

No. 10 is a reachable par-5 hole. This links-style dogleg right measures 518 yards from the back and 410 from the front.

No. 11 is a par-4 playing at 398 yards from the back and 306 from the front. A pond runs down the entire right side and there are mounds and an out of bounds left. The green is very undulating.

No. 12 is true par-5 playing to 533 yards from the back and 415 from the front. There is a dogleg left with the crook of the dogleg protected by cottonwood trees.

No. 13 is a tough par 3 that measures 204 yards from the back and 135 from the front. From both the back tees and the middle, you shoot over a creek to the green.

No. 15 is a par-4 that measures 377 yards from the back and 279 from the front. This short but tough par-4 is one of Quail Ridge's signature holes.

No. 18 is a 394-yard par-4, 351 yards from the front. You’ll take an uphill tee shot to this slight dogleg left. The two-tiered green is protected on the left by a bunker. The green also has a mini-stadium style with mounds surrounding the backside of the green.
