Detailed description

Riverside Country Club, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Bozeman, Montana.

In 1959 and 1962, Gallatin Valley Golf Association purchased two parcels (239) from Mary (Baxter) Nelson along the East Gallatin River at an average cost of $307 per acre. This became Riverside Country Club.

A nine-hole course (with grass greens) opened in 1959. The clubhouse was dedicated on May 6, 1961. Expansion and renovation have been continual. The original nine holes were was designed by Theodore Wirth. Dick Phelps and Brad Benz designed nine new holes, which were added in 1981.

The course was designed to play straight up into the Briger Mountains. Deer and bears live around the course, so if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the native wildlife. The course gets its irrigation waters from a local river that crosses two holes. Overall, water hazards (the river and two lakes) come into play on five holes

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,770 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,984 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 3, a par-5 that plays to 587 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 132 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 1, a 436-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Riverside Golf Course is # 16, a 132 yard par-3.

The signature hole is #18, a 373-yard, par 4 that requires a blind tee shot up a dogleg left fairway, then an approach shot over the river to the green.
